Meeting Minutes


7:25 PM: Meeting was called to order.

Officer's Reports

  • Chairman: Our Liberty Recruitment Night was a success, with over 22 candidates speaking. A link is up on MNLG.org for YouTube and Flickr where Pat Anderson, Tom Emmer and Gilbert Higuera are shown.
  • Vice-Chair: None
  • Treasurer: Covering costs of MNLG Liberty Recruitment Night. We did make some money from the donation bucket which was deducted from the re-imbursement amount made to Rick Karshnia.

7:35 PM: Motion was made by Rick Karshnia and passed to re-imburse Rick Karshnia $237.28 for the personal funds he spent on the Recruitment Night.

  • Secretary: None

Committee Reports

  • Bylaws Committee: None
  • Fundraising Committee: Jill suggested we print pocket-sized State Constitutions. Estimate is $100 for 200 copies of a large size. Price may be reduced if size is smaller. Discussion was held including suggestion to print our own, making an MNLG-proposed ammendment to the Constitution and putting up a link to a sales page on the website. Jill will continue to explore this idea and bring the findings to the next meeting.

7:45 PM: Motion was made and passed to authorize exploration of an MNLG-produced pocket-sized State Constitution for fundraising purposes.

  • Events Committee: They are exploring the idea of a spagetti dinner with a film. A venue is needed that is not too expensive. If you have suggestions for a venue or other event ideas, please send them to Anisha Dunne. Also in the works is the annual MNLG Holiday Party.
  • Platform Committee: None
  • Communications Committee: None
  • Elections Committee: If anyone would like to head up this committee, Blaise would gladly step down. Please let the group know if you are interested.

New Business

  • Finances: None
  • Liberty Candidate Recruitment: See above
  • Endorsements: Suggestion was made to come up with a system for MNLG endorsements. Subcommittee was formed to bring a proposal for endorsement procedures to the next meeting.

7:50 PM: Bill Jungbauer moved to endorse Pat Anderson. Motion was seconded, discussion was held and motion passed at 8:05 PM.

8:00 PM: Colin Wilkinson spoke about Eva Eng campaign. They need volunteers to lit-drop. Goal is 150,000 fliers.

8:05 PM: Norann Dillon moved to endorse Tom Emmer. Motion was seconded, discussion was held and motion did not pass.

Group reviewed MNLG members running for local office:

  • Nathan Atkins is running for House district 63A
  • Pat Barnum is running for School Board district 197
  • Norann Dillon is running for Senate district 43

8:15 PM: Bill Jungbauer moved to endorse Pat Barnum for School Board district 197. Motion was seconded, discussion was held and motion was passed.

8:20 PM: Jeff Hagan moved to endorse Nathan Atkins for House district 63A. Motion was seconded, discussion was held and motion was tabled for next meeting.

Upcoming event: 2009 MN GOP State Convention held Saturday, October 3rd.

Motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn at 8:25 PM.
